I tried everything I read on here and elsewhere.nothing fixed it.
The problem was that no matter what I tried.and I tried them all.the size of the game on my monitor screen was miniscule.maybe 4"x5"! I had no problme in loading HOMM3 from my 12 or 13 year old CDs. Windows 7 this time.loaded with XP Mode.just in case. I never had to set any OS to 16 bit either. Heck, HOMM3 even worked on Vista.but in XP/SP2 mode. I don't know what it didn't like in XP's SP3 but it did nothing but crash after I installed it. I got rid of SP3 so it would keep on working. XP wasn't too much of a problem.nothing I couldn't figure out how to fix. Nor with Windows 98 or even that lousy ME. Windows 2.0 (DOS yet.on an old NEC) was the first system we played HOMM on but quickly upgraded to a better computer that was loaded with Windows 95. I played it on all of my computers with just about every OS Microsoft made. I have them all but my favorite is still HOMM3. I forgot if this is possible in XP, but right-clicking on the desktop will allow you to open Properties and check out stuff about your desktop and related properties. You don't ever really see the top and bottom part of 16:10 in games/movies because it's kinda out the field of vision so it's just a waste of pixels/fps.I don't know that much more about what can be done, but I'll try. However 16:9 is alot wider then you would think compared to 16:10 and just looks nicer wider, like more cinema wide.
It does have it's advantges like running 4:3 better and more desktop space. So it needs more pixels hence 1200 vs 1080p it's the same pixel ration just 1200 more screen estate.Īynone who says 16:10 is better and 16:9 is inferior probally just own a 16:10 and want to tell themselfs they don't regret buying it (I did this). It's also NOT higher res, it's the same but the screen is a bit wider length ways making it more sqaure. So with 16:9 you can have a low faster resolution that's STILL widescreen. With 16:10 your stuck at 1920x1200 or lower it to a 4:3 resolution. Gaming is better at 16:9 because you can lower the resolution for an fps boost and still maintain 16:9. No movies are 16:10 but a fair lot are 16:9. I had 16:10 2408WFP and after using my 2409 16:9 for 2 weeks when i look back at the 16:10 it looks fat, like 4:3.ĭark Knight blu ray fits perfect to my screen in 16:9 no black bars just looks better.
